Why Nautical Flags?

I seem to have always had a connection to the water.   Being a west coast girl and proud of a mom who was in the Coast Guard and a Dad who was in the Navy plus looking at the Columbia River throughout my young life…it was in my blood.

Luckily, my Norwegian grandpa had a boat, dad had a boat, and boyfriend (soon to be husband) had a boat.   And then our young family had sailboats.   We started with a trailerable 22’ O’Day, then a 33’ Ranger and lastly a 46’ Nordic- raised salon one off -we bought on the day I retired.   We felt truly bonded with the marine community.

Though, currently boat-less, I still needed that connection to the water and the marine community so SignalSister was born.

  • SignalSister honors the international ingenuity of using common signals to for communication and understanding and a common goal to make the seafaring world work.   What a concept!

You do not have to be a sailor to want to feel that connection and common understanding.    All are welcome here!
